The Pistons are the real champs and always will be!! But what will next season be like?
I’m sorry I have not been very present for the last few weeks. As some of you already know, I had to take a short trip back to France for visa matters. Anyway, I’ll be back soon! While here I took some time to think about Notifixious and how useful it could be and here is a great use case.
This morning I subscribed to InfoQ -great source of information btw-. As 99% of webservices, when you subscribe they send you a confirmation email. Let’s face it, the only useful information this email contains is a link, so, why send an email? It’s like sending a fax to tell you the time of the day, or as we say in France, using a hammer to kill a fly!
Unfortunately, this email might also end up in your spam box, or could be delayed (email is not always fast!)…
In my dreams, most services will not send email by default, but rather messages to the device you already use and to which you are already connected! and, of course, Notifixious will provide the infrastructure for this -and many other things as well-!
PS: yeah, I know, Notifixious uses confirmation emails as well in the pre-alpha, but this will change soon

Richie Robnett hit an eighth inning two run homerun to push the Rockhounds to a 4-3 win over Springfield. Jason Perry was the other hitting star. He went three for four with two doubles, two RBIs and a run.
Dallas Braden had a solid start and he gave up two runs on three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.
Like most of the UK’s web development community I was at the Carson Workshops Future of Web Apps summit a couple of weeks ago. A couple of highlights for me were Tom Coates’ wonderfully lucid and entertaining synthesis of all things Web 2.0 (see also Jeremy Zawodny’s annotations of Tom’s slides) and David Heinemeier Hansson’s Ruby on Rails ’sermon’. Although I’ve been working with Rails intermittently for at least eighteen months I’ve never seen David speak and it had never really occurred to me before just how Scandinavian Rails is: minimal, beautifully designed and good for the soul.

Using WordPress? If you’re looking for SEO improvements, checkout this excellent WordPress SEO Guide. It has quite a lot of good ideas for optimizing your blog, with the relevant plugins. I would recommend doing most of it.
One of the things they didn’t mention is removing bloginfo(’name’) from header.php so that the blog name will not appear in the title of every single page on site. (If you are asking why, here is the answer)
In case you want to do it, all you need to do is edit header.php
change this code:
<title><?php bloginfo(’name’); ?> <?php if ( is_single() ) { ?> » Blog Archive <?php } ?> <?php wp_title(); ?></title>
into this:
<title><?php
if ( is_single() || is_category() || is_tag())
{
wp_title(”);
}
else
{
bloginfo(’name’); ?> <?php wp_title();
}
?></title>

Steve Dembo, a Twitter pal, asked today if anyone had a photo of themselves and their Second Life avatar, side by side. What an interesting idea.

Easily the most fun I’ve had all day!
The only thing going through my mind is, “Ok now that Ive announced to the world that I am going to be releasing an Internet marketing Podcast what in the heck do I do now?”.
My Thoughts Organized :
Make it Official : Press Release
Finalize a Game Plan : Mind Map (Freemind)
Write A Script : I will be using a past blog as a guide, the scrip will be casual and only used to keep me on track and time.
Mental and Physical Preparation : Don’t think this does not take mental prep time. I am not a pro in front of the camera and I am sure that most people reading this are not ether. Following is a list of things that I am doing to prepare, I am even going to list that things that I think are embarrassing.
- Sit in front of the camera all day while I work
- Record myself talking and take notes on playback
- Practice in the mirror
- Practice on location
- Go Tanning, but not to much
- Groom
Make a Video Intro : This is going to be professionally done to make up for the causal Podcast format.
Shoot the Video : Just using a standard mini DV camera. I do not image this would take more then one hour for just a final product of about 5 - 7 not including the intro (few extra seconds).
Put it all Together : I might just end up using Windows Movie Maker.
Finalize the Video : For me this will be setting up a private link to the video and showing it off to friends, family, and other professionals.
Release and Upload : I am going to upload the video to 30 video websites, a location that has RSS capabilities for Podcast directories, and submit to multiple Podcast directories like iTunes.
Market the Hell out of it : This is up to you, personally I might do a second smaller press release or announcement, Just submitting to all those video websites does a lot. You can also do an email campaign, Pay-per-click, Facebook Flyers, Feed Burner advertisements and/or a ton of other things. If you feel like being lazy for this part contact someone at Interloop Media for assistances.

If you could tell Barack Obama one thing… Just one. What would it be? How about John McCain? What would you convey to arguably the most powerful man on the face of the planet? The next President of the United States…
Well you better come up with something good because JoinTheDot™ is giving you the opportunity.
Artist David Ilan, will create portraits of each candidate for JoinTheDot™ using the unique method of art known as pointillism, in which millions of tiny hand-drawn dots will be used to create one larger image.
Ilan will create two separate presidential portraits, one of Democratic candidate Barack Obama and one of Republican candidate John McCain.
The really unique thing is, each dot represents one person, one vote, one message… Because every person who participates at JoinTheDot™ will get their own dot in the portrait of the candidate of their choice, with their message attached.
Honestly… I hope they do something like this for the Vice Presidential candidates as well…
My message would be for the VPilf. Sarah Palin… Do you like me, and not like a friend either… Do you like me, like me? If you do give me some sort of a sign… A wink, tug on your ear, a thumbs up… Something, anything so I’ll know…
Awwww… Thanks babe. I dig you too.
I’m just sayin’…
If you liked that…
